Best barbecue lamb dishes
Most people associate barbecue only with summer seasons, however, the tasty smoky flavour of barbeque can actually be enjoyed throughout the year especially when you make it with juicy lamb shank. Below are few of the best barbecue lamb dishes which are easy to prepare as well as very delicious and you would surely enjoy these dishes with your friends and family members:
SUGAR GLAZED GRILLED LAMB
Preparation time: 2 hours
Cooking time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
4 lamb chops
100 grams brown sugar
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp dried tarragon
1 tsp ground black pepper
1 tsp ground cinnamon
tsp salt
METHOD
Combine brown sugar, ground ginger, garlic powder, dried tarragon, ground black pepper, ground cinnamon and salt in a bowl. Rub spice mixture and herb evenly onto the lamb chops, thereby placing each chops on a plate. Cover the lamb chops and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours.
Pre heat the grill and cook the lamb chops on high temperature for around 5 minutes on each of the sides. Serve the lamb chops with mixed vegetables or mashed potatoes.
SPICY LAMB PATTIES
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
400 grams lamb, minced
3 green onions, minced
4 cloves garlic, minced
2 tsp curry powder
1 tsp ground cumin
2 tsp paprika
¼ tsp dried red chilli flakes
¼ tsp pepper
Salt to taste
METHOD
Mix the lamb, onions, garlic, curry powder, ground cumin, paprika, dried red chilli flakes, pepper and salt in a bowl. Make medium sized patties with this mixture. Grill the patties in a pre heated grill for around 5 minutes on each side.
LAMB KEBABS
Preparation time: 10 minutes
Cooking time: 15 minutes
INGREDIENTS
450 grams lamb, minced
Juice of 1 lemon
2 tsp oil
50 grams fresh coriander leaves, chopped
4 green chillies, chopped
4 garlic cloves, crushed
2 tsp ginger, crushed
1 tsp cumin powder
1 tsp coriander powder
tsp pepper powder
tsp turmeric powder
tsp garam masala
1 tsp salt
METHOD
Blend the green chillies, garlic, ginger, cumin powder, coriander powder, pepper powder, turmeric powder, garam masala and salt into a paste. Mix the minced lamb and lemon juice in a bowl. Add the blended paste and coriander leaves to that bowl of lamb. Stir well. Gently make small patties of this mixture with wet hands. Brush each of the kebabs with little oil.Barbecue each side of the kebabs for around 5 minutes.
LAMB TIKKA KEBABS
Preparation time: Overnight
Cooking time: 10 minutes
INGREDIENT
450 grams lamb, cut into cubes
200 grams yogurt
1 tsp ginger paste
1 tsp garlic paste
tsp red chilli powder
1 tsp ground cumin
1 tsp ground coriander
tsp garam masala
Juice of 1 lemon
tsp fenugreek seeds powder
tsp mango powder
1 pinch saffron strands (soak it into 1 tsp water)
2 tsp single cream
METHOD
Mix yogurt, ginger paste, garlic paste, red chilli powder, ground cumin, ground coriander, garam masala, lemon juice, fenugreek seeds powder, mango powder, saffron strands and cream in a bowl. Add the lamb pieces in that bowl and mix well until completely coated.
Cover the bowl and refrigerate it for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight. Thread the marinated lamb pieces onto the skewers. Heat the griddle pan and grill each side of the lamb tikka kebabs for around 2 minutes.
